our 15th wedding anniversary

Over the course of 15 years, my beautiful wife and I have covered much territory and I am blessed to have been all over the world together with her. We have lived in three continents (Europe / Asia / North America), five countries (Russia / Poland / Saudi Arabia / Qatar / USA), seven cities, and 15 apartments/houses.

I began praying for Iwona when I was seven. Even though I did not know her name, I knew God knew who she was and where she was located. I prayed that wherever she was on earth, for God to encounter her, for her protection, for her purity, for her to prophesy over me and for our paths to cross in God’s timing.

In 1991, during an extended fast in Russia, God asked me about the list that I had pertaining to my requirements of a perfect wife.

He said, “Do you want what you think is best or what I think is best?”

I said, “Of course–whatever You think is best!”

He told me to throw away my little list because it would be someone I would never suspect. One month later, Iwona arrived in Moscow to join our ministry staff. At that time, she spoke four languages. English was not one of them.

After a month, I was invited to her 26th birthday party. I observed at the party that Iwona was not eating, so I asked her roommate, Ania, who told me that Iwona was fasting. I asked Ania to interpret for me as I spoke with Iwona. I asked Iwona how long is she fasting and she said, “eighteen days”. I thought 18 days was an odd number and then asked, “Why eighteen days?” She said that there were 18 staff members on our new church plant and that she was focusing each day on a different staff member. I was amazed and provoked!

I asked if she had prayed for me yet. She said she would be praying for me in two days. I asked her to tell me if God gave her anything for me. She kindly agreed. Two days later, there was a knock at my door. Ania handed me a three-page prophecy that she translated for me from Iwona. I closed my door, read it, and then cried for two days. I had never had a prophecy given to me before and this one melted my heart. It was like a love letter from God. I asked God, “Who is this Polish girl?”

He said, “This is the one you have been praying for since you were seven.” At that point, I knew! I would have never guessed a four-year-older, Polish, Catholic girl who didn’t speak English would be my wife-to-be.

With a Polish/Russian/English dictionary, we began to share our dreams, goals, hearts desires, visions and plans with each other. I never met someone who thought so much like me in my life.

After spending 11 days with her, at midnight on New Year’s Eve, after sledding down a huge hill behind our apartment complex, she came right out and told me, “I did not come to Russia to waste my time in a relationship; I came here to win Russians to the Lord, so tell me if this is going somewhere or I do not have time for you.” I gulped. I was not ready to say what God told me, but she threw the ball in my court and I had no choice but to tell her. I then said, “God told me that you are going to be my wife.” She said, “Good, God told me you were going to be my husband.” I said, “Well, so will you marry me?” She said, “Yes.”

We then decided from that moment we would fast again until we each received three confirmations from God that this is His will. Twelve days later we broke the fast and shared with each other the three confirmations we each received.

I called my parents to tell them the good news. They were not to thrilled. Neither was my sending church. It is a long story that I may share at a later date or in our book. I was basically given a decision from my leadership: Leave Iwona and keep my youth group in Moscow or leave Russia and keep Iwona. They gave me a few days to think about it. I told them I did not need a few days; I knew my answer. I told them, “I am keeping Iwona because she is my future.” I was told to leave Russia that very week and that I could not meet with the youth group to explain the reasons why I was leaving.

I had to return to America and Iwona to Poland. I was told that I could not see her for one year to prove that this love was true. I did not see her 15 months, as the test I had to pass.

From that cold Russian New Year’s eve night in Moscow where I proposed to Iwona, it took two and a half years before all was said and done before we were able to get married!

As life has moved us closer together, we now have three beautiful kids, and she is still the woman of my dreams and always will be!

Proposition K

The purpose of Proposition K when first looked upon seems like an attempt to decriminalize prostitution (take away the criminal penalties for prostitution), but deeper study of it reveals the unsettling truth.

If passed, Prop K will:

* Make it illegal for local law enforcement to gather funds for investigating and prosecuting crimes of trafficking and slavery, thereby making it nearly impossible for them to investigate.

* Take away funds for programs that help victims, women and children, who have been rescued or who have survived from being prostituted or trafficked.

Logistically speaking, if passed, this measure would direct the  San Francisco Police Department and the District Attorney’s office to refuse to enforce California’s prostitution laws. These sections include the laws used to investigate and prosecute traffickers and those involved in exploiting children. If these laws are NOT enforced, it basically gives a hall pass to pimps, traffickers and johns (customers).

According to San Francisco’s DA Kamala Harris, Prop K, “would expressly bar the investigation and prosecution of human  trafficking crimes. Human trafficking is a serious problem in San Francisco. Many people in the commercial sex trade have been trafficked and forced to participate in commercial sex. This
measure would attempt to provide safe harbor to their traffickers.”

Please agree with us in praying for this proposition to not get passed! More info can be found at http://www.noonk.net/ .

Konferencja Krajowa Polska dla Jezusa – “Poland for Jesus” National Conference

Iwona and I drove up to Kalisz for the day to participate in a “Poland for Jesus” conference.  Over one thousand people attended and we were able to spend time with many friends who visited us in Kansas City last year.  Asia and Lukasz Kupczynski did an incredible job leading worship and my good friend, Bogdan Olechnowicz, was transparent as he shared.

I live in this city = zyje w tym miescie

This is part of the program of the 25th anniversary of the Catholic Charismatic fellowship, called “HalleluJah“, which Iwona helped start and lead in Wroclaw, Poland  The first day will be kicked off by an outdoor evangelism event in the very center of Wroclaw with concerts, multi-media presentations, games for children, etc.

Six days ago, some friends in Poland took up an offering so that our family would be able to attend. With their donation, I was able to purchase four tickets for Iwona and our three children today!  They will be leaving on September 30th.

I am now praying for the funds to come in within five days for my ticket and our expenses.  I would like to shoot a documentary of this historic event.

It starts today!

Ready for a 40-day fast?  Click here.

Prayer mobilization is exploding throughout the body of Christ as we are about to enter into an intense period of time before these Elections. We can’t help but wonder how high the stakes are when God is beckoning so many into the place of prayer and fasting.

For 40 days there will be two strategic prayer strikes coordinated on both coasts. Lou Engle will be leading 40 days in San Diego with a strong focus on the marriage amendment facing California voters on November 4th. At the same time Matt Lockett will be leading 40 days in Washington, DC with an intensified focus on the Presidential Election and righteous Judges on the Supreme Court.

We believe the fate of the nation hangs in the balance between these two seats of power and influence. Will the advance of the culture of death and false ideologies be thrown back or will the nation be swept away in a deluge of chaos and immorality?

From Poland will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming

St. Faustina Kowalska reported seeing a merciful Jesus, with beams of red and white light shining from his heart.

In her diary, the cloistered mystic described a 1935 vision in which she was told the write down this prayer as protection from divine judgment: “Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

Some of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy thought the uneducated nun was unstable and the Vatican shunned her writings. But her visions impressed a young priest in nearby Krakow named Father Karol Wojtyla, who rose through the ranks from professor to bishop, archbishop and cardinal. Finally, he became Pope John Paul II.

The Polish pope was a champion of Faustina’s “Divine Mercy” devotions. He testified: “The message of Divine Mercy has always been near and dear to me.” In a sense, he said, it “forms the image of this pontificate.” On April 30, 2000, John Paul II canonized her as St. Faustina.

It was in 1937, a year before she died of tuberculosis, the 32-year-old nun had another apocalyptic vision of Jesus.

She wrote: “As I was praying for Poland, I heard the words: I bear a special love for Poland, and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming.”

Who will stand for truth?

You have to watch this video by Grassroots Films. It’s awesome!

Biden and Pelosi, both Catholics, were asked about their stand on the issue of life at conception during recent TV interviews. Their answers which did not align with the teaching of the Catholic church, prompted a response from US Catholic bishops by publishing Fact sheet on pro-life and Church teaching on abortion.

My soul is provoked

This morning, I directed the media at IHOP while Lou Engle shared his testimony and some dreams about the next TheCall meeting in San Diego this November 1st. I was so provoked, I couldn’t help but cry and pray. He petitioned us to go on a 40-day fast for the state of California starting September 24.

When I returned home, I listened to a Delirious? album named “The Mission Bell”. Their song named “Take Off My Shoes” really ministered to me. I am amazed why Jesus would want to wash my feet.

Take Off My Shoes

I’ll take off my shoes, I’m coming in,
Untie this rope, I’m staying with him,
Love of my life, I’ll live and die,
Just for the moments for my king and I.

Why did you call, why did you wait,
For someone so guilty, someone so fake.
There are no words for my beautiful song,
Now I’m in the arms of my beautiful one.

Hold me, blow all the pride from my bones, with your fire.
Hold me, breathe on this heart made of stone, keep it pure.
Hold me, saviour of heaven and earth, King forever.
Hold me, love of my life lead me on, Through the fire, lead me on…

I’ll take off this crown and fall at your feet,
The secret of joy are the moments we meet.
How could a man with all of your fame,
Pull me from darkness and call me by name.

So hold me today, as I carry your cross,
Into the desert to find who is lost.
Look at my hands, they’re still full of faith,
God keep them clean till we finish the race.
